This 40,000 liter vertical double-jacketed and insulated storage tank is designed for hygienic cream storage and efficient cooling applications within the dairy industry. The tank was previously used for cooling cream from 8°C down to 4°C within approximately four hours using a glycol cooling system, demonstrating reliable and effective thermal performance.
The tank is fully insulated on the side walls and bottom and equipped with three side cooling sections and one bottom cooling section, providing a total cooling surface of 35.7 m² (3.6 m² bottom and 3 × 10.7 m² side). The tank is designed for a working pressure of 0–0.49 bar, while the jacket is rated for 4 bar. The design temperature range for both tank and jacket is -10°C to +99°C, making it suitable for a wide range of process conditions.
For optimal product homogeneity, the tank is fitted with a top-mounted, center-driven propeller agitator manufactured by Jongia. The agitator has a motor power of 1.1 kW and operates at 29 rpm, ensuring gentle and uniform mixing while maintaining product quality.
The hygienic design includes a 2.5” product outlet equipped with two pneumatic outlet valves, positioned at an outlet height of approximately 710 mm. A cleanable sample valve is installed for quality control purposes. The bottom of the tank is fitted with three sensors (temperature, pressure, and level), while an additional level sensor is mounted on top. Further features include a sight glass with integrated lamp, breather vent, four CIP spray balls (one in the top and three in the side), and a round top manhole with a diameter of approximately 500 mm.
The tank stands on four adjustable feet and is equipped with an aluminium cage ladder mounted on the side for safe access. Internal tank dimensions are approximately 2,650 mm diameter with a cylindrical height of 6,500 mm.
